Help Families Under Fire

Immediately following the tragic events of October 7th, Am Yisrael mobilized quickly and efficiently to support those affected in Israel. Countless charity distributions were organized to raise funds for the soldiers, families, bereaved, wounded, displaced, and needy.

American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B’ezri played a significant role in these efforts, raising over $3.9 million since that devastating day, through our Stand With Israel campaign. 

We immediately began distributing essential items to IDF soldiers and are still providing necessities such as jackets, thermal shirts, tzitzis, headlamps, and numerous other kinds of urgent equipment. 

We've been helping families who were displaced to hotels, providing them with myriad necessities including clothing, food, washers and dryers for doing laundry, games and toys for children and other vital needs. We've organized childcare and children’s activities, and offered guidance to alleviate their stress. 

We've reached families in southern cities (such as Sderot, Ofakim, Netivot, Tifrach, Ashkelon and Ashdod) who were not able to evacuate, assisting them with financial aid, books, crafts packages worth hundreds of shekels each to keep children occupied, food vouchers and additional types of support. We've also reached families of reservists with critical aid, homes where fathers and husbands have been away fighting for weeks.

We continue to do so now. American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B’ezri is there, as we are through all our programs, constantly assessing where we can be most effective, how to alleviate the stress of individuals and families who are suffering, and provide for their needs in any ways we can, within our framework. 

We will also be there for the long term. Just as we are still providing support to Meron families long after the tragedy, we recognize that after this war is over (may it be as soon as possible!) there will be significant demand for help with therapy expenses and other needs caused by the war’s trauma. We will continue to support families as necessary.

This crisis is like no other in Israel's recent history. The need is ongoing and will last for some time.
