Just when it all seems hopeless...

We just cannot believe that our youngest boy is turning Bar Mitzvah next week... We feel, as all parents do that he should have the best of everything. He should feel the uniqueness of this stage in his life.

My husband and I have been trying to figure out how to cut back on our basic household expenses in order to afford the Bar Mitzvah. The day that we hoped wouldn’t come – came, it was the day we realized that we will not be able to buy our son Tefillin. Today is Wednesday, the Bar Mitzvah is this Sunday and we dont have the money to pay for his Tefillin. My husband seemed broken and I just walked around hiding my tears.

The situation seemed helpless.

Two months prior to the Bar Mitzvah, I was introduced to Milka from Yad Eliezer, I told her all about the situation we were in, hoping that she would be able to assist me in anyway. I filled out a Bar Mitzvah Twinning application, and then just prayed ... Thursday morning I got out of bed, and with swollen eyes I decided to go back to Yad Eliezer. I walked in and saw Milka sitting behind a desk speaking on the phone. I couldn’t wait another minute, my tears came flowing out of me like a river and without stopping to take a breath I let her know what happened. “We can’t pay for his Tefillin, my husband hasn’t spoken in days, my son won’t get Tefillin for his Bar Mitzvah? I can not let that happen, Please help me, please! Milka looked up at me with a smile and said “I have been trying to get in touch with you all morning - I just hung up with your daughter when you walked in, I called your house to tell you that we got the money for your sons’ Tefillin!”

At that point there was no more holding back – the tears wouldn’t stop, but now it was tears of joy and gratitude to Hashem that He answered our Tefillos and sent us Yad Eliezer who allowed our son to be Mekabel ol Malchus Shamayim with tremendous pride and simcha!
