IDF Volunteers at Yad Eliezer

Monday, September 24, 2012

Full of smiles and energy, young men from various religious and ethnic backgrounds came together to help others. Since the second Lebanese war and through the recent battles in Gaza, the IDF and Yad Eliezer have formed a special bond. During the Lebanese war when meals and supplies were lacking, a special emergency fund was created virtually overnight. Many thousands of hot meat meals and thoughtful care packages were sent to our boys on the battle front. After both wars the IDF recognized Yad Eliezer’s contribution to the wellbeing and morale of the soldiers, but more importantly, IDF units have been coming to the warehouse to help by packing food boxes for the poor of Israel.

This week’s group packaged 80 food packages that will enhance the holidays for needy families. They were full of smiles and gusto and would have continued working, had time allowed. Before leaving, they insisted on preparing boxes for the volunteer group that would be arriving after them.

As Yom Kippur approaches we hope and pray for a day when battles both for the security and satiety of Israel will be history.
