HIGH HOLIDAYS

high holidays in poverty

The High Holidays mark the beginning of the Jewish New Year. It is a time of new beginnings, new opportunities, new hopes. While it is a season of renewal, the holidays are also a time of introspection, where Jews worldwide study their actions and strive to improve them for the coming year. Part of this concept includes increasing good deeds and reaching out to help others.

With thousands of people struggling day after day, week after week to feed their families, the High Holidays are, along with a time of introspection, also a time of great anxiety. They know that the average family will have festive foods and a festive atmosphere in their home. They too, wish that in their homes it were so. But due to circumstances that are often beyond their control, they find themselves stuck in that vicious cycle of poverty.

At Yad Eliezer, we recognize the great need that exists in homes like these throughout Israel and we strive to allay some of it with our donors' help, all year long- whenever and wherever we can.

We also recognize that this time of year affords the perfect opportunity to start the year off on a positive note.

we can make their table festive

Your donation to our High Holiday Campaign will help us change Yom Tov for so many families this year by enabling us to provide supermarket vouchers to thousands of people.

Together we can help families buy their essential Yom Tov foods, reducing their anxiety and increasing their festivity - and dignity - at their holiday table.

Last year, we distributed over $3 million worth of assistance.

This year, with your help, we hope to make an even bigger difference.
