...and bring Simcha back to Z'man Simchateinu
Sukkot is the grand culmination of the High Holidays. Most years, the weeklong celebration finds families sitting in their Sukkahs, surrounded by cheerfully decorated walls and the company of friends and loved ones, while enjoying festive meals.
But this year, everything is different.
Countless individuals and families are alone and reeling from the hit of the COVID 19 epidemic-both physically and financially. The situations for those who were already suffering have worsened, and thousands upon thousands of previously-stable households now find themselves unable to make ends meet. With Sukkot just days away, their
stress over holiday preparations - instead of excitement - is quickly building.
Sukkot is supposed to be Z'man Simchateinu (a time of rejoicing). And this year more than ever, struggling families need our help to experience the joy of the chag. Donations to Yad Eliezer's Sukkot Campaign will transform the holiday by providing poor families throughout Israel with supermarket gift cards that enable them to purchase yom tov essentials like grape juice, fresh produce, chicken and other foods, making the holiday really
feel like a holiday.
Despite the challenges they’re facing, they will be able to sit at a full table, and experience the happiness that is such a fundamental part of Sukkot.
And they will do it with dignity.
