Yad Eliezer, the Israeli charity at the forefront of poverty relief,
is leading the fight to save families from the economic fallout of the Covid 19 crisis.
The Corona pandemic continues to take its terrible toll on families worldwide, putting the health of their loved ones in great danger. We pray that the ill should have a refuah shleima - a swift and complete recovery!
Here in Israel, with more than 1 million citizens jobless, this crisis is also creating another kind of danger for countless families: the rapid slide into inescapable poverty.
But Yad Eliezer is leading the fight to prevent that from happening, through our Corona Emergency Relief Campaign.
We’re bringing support to populations suffering from poverty, pre-Corona: two parent homes and single mothers (including grushos, agunos and almanos) already struggling to provide basics like food and clothing for their children, on minimum wage salaries (which are now reduced or gone) or low government stipends. Their situations have only worsened during this emergency.
We’re sending aid for “newly poor” families: those who until now, were able to just make it through the month. Parental job loss, literally overnight, and lack of resources are dealing them a crushing financial blow, throwing them into unfamiliar-and frightening-territory.
Other at-risk groups we’re reaching include families of needy IDF soldiers who’ve been called into full time service and have no incomes, and struggling women who recently got small businesses off the ground (in hopes to better support themselves and their families), but those ventures are now defunct.
With limited unemployment benefits available for those eligible, and many not eligible at all, hard-hit families such as these have no one to turn to for help.
That’s why we are here. The Corona Emergency Relief Campaign is bringing them all assistance through monetary support, food aid, help with utilities or rent payments, stopping poor home environments from declining further, and keeping families at-risk afloat so they don't get trapped in the endless poverty cycle.
As always, we are fighting to help people live with dignity.
This month alone, Yad Eliezer is assisting 2700 new families who were affected by the crisis, and we plan to reach more in June and July. Slowly people are just beginning to go back to work, and this fund has helped stabilize their homes and keep them out of the danger zone of deep debt, until they are able to do so.
We've raised over $3 million in aid so far but there is still so much need.
Please join us in this critical rescue campaign, and take an active role in saving Israeli families!
With impoverished kids stuck at home, leaving parents unable to go to work, the loss of income makes an already difficult situation even worse. No money to buy food or pay the electric bill makes summer unbearable. We can bring relief.
While we celebrate the Holidays, IDF soldiers defend us on the front lines. Some of them live in poverty and cannot afford proper holiday meals. Let’s not forget them. Let's give them a taste of the holidays!
