The Israeli National Insurance Institute and the Central Bureau of Statistics reported recently that in 2012 there were 1,754,700 people, including 817,200 children living below the poverty line.
That means that each week there are babies born in Israel who will not receive adequate nutrition in the first year of life, putting them at risk for a large range of long term problems.
Yad Eliezer's Feed-A-Baby program is making a difference in the lives of over 2,000 infants, by providing infant formula in the crucial first year of life.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Houston Jewish Community Foundation 15 babies in the low income area of Netivot are off to a better start in life!
Fifteen babies will have a better functioning immune system this winter. They will have adequate nutrition for rapid brain development that takes place in the first year of life, and they will have calm mothers who are able to respond to their hunger without fear and panic. Now that's a Mazel Tov!
